FAQ

Fair questions, straight answers.

1 · What is Sofrito?+

A weekly profit and owner-independence concierge for independent food businesses. It organizes fragmented operating and financial information, identifies where money may be leaking, recommends one priority action, tracks the result, and helps convert owner-held knowledge into repeatable systems.

2 · Why is it called Sofrito?+

A sofrito is the base a kitchen builds everything else on — and it has no fixed recipe. It changes by household, by region, by cook. That is the right analogy for this service: the same weekly discipline, fitted to how your business actually runs. The goal is the foundation of a profitable business that can operate without every decision depending on the owner.

3 · How does Sofrito reduce owner dependency?+

It identifies work and decisions that live only with the owner, then helps document and assign them. Recurring tasks become defined, scheduled, assigned, verified, escalated only when needed, and measured — without the owner rebuilding the answer manually. We track observable facts (responsibilities identified, documented, delegated, operating independently), not an invented score.

4 · Is Sofrito accounting software?+

No. Sofrito does not replace an accountant, bookkeeper, tax professional, POS, payroll system, or accounting platform. It uses information from those systems to identify operating issues, prioritize action, and improve accountability.

5 · Is Sofrito a dashboard?+

No. Dashboards display information. Sofrito helps you make and complete a better weekly decision: what happened, why it may have happened, the financial effect, what to do first, and whether the previous action worked.

6 · What information does Sofrito need?+

The core: sales, labor cost, food and beverage purchases, receipts and invoices, selected operating expenses, your targets, and business context. When useful and permitted: inventory, food-truck expenses, merchant fees, occupancy, waste, and bank or card statements.

7 · Do I need organized records?+

No. Sofrito is designed for information spread across reports, receipts, inboxes, folders, and staff knowledge. Send it through any supported intake method and the concierge helps organize it. Poor or incomplete records reduce confidence — and the review clearly says so.

8 · How often do I receive a review?+

Weekly. That cadence is intentional: frequent enough to correct problems before they become monthly surprises, practical enough for small operators to maintain.

9 · What's in the weekly review?+

What happened, the financial effect, verified and likely causes, missing information, one priority action, one owner-dependency move, the status of the previous recommendation, and whether it worked.

10 · Does it work for food trucks?+

Yes — including mixed restaurant-and-truck operations. Fuel, mileage, parking, tolls, event fees, permits, commissary charges, propane, repairs, and restaurant-to-truck transfers are tracked, and restaurant and truck expenses are never silently blended.

11 · Will Sofrito collect my receipts?+

Sofrito provides low-friction ways to submit receipts and helps organize them. Routine physical collection isn't included in the standard $149 monthly service unless explicitly agreed as part of a local pilot or a separately priced engagement.

12 · How does the 90-day cohort work?+

The first cohort is limited to 15 independent food businesses at $149 per month for 90 days. Sofrito establishes a baseline, runs the weekly review process, recommends and tracks actions, documents owner-held responsibilities, and measures whether the service creates enough value to continue. Participants provide agreed information and take part in weekly action tracking.

13 · Why only 15 businesses?+

The service includes human review and concierge support, and quality doesn't scale for free. The limit protects delivery while Sofrito learns which information is truly necessary, how much work delivery requires, which recommendations create measurable value, and what should be standardized.

14 · Will the price increase?+

The founding cohort begins at $149 per month. Later cohorts may be priced higher as the service improves and the evidence of value becomes stronger. Any future price should reflect actual outcomes, delivery cost, demand, and scope.

15 · What benefit do founding members receive?+

Founding customers who stay continuously subscribed receive a clearly defined founding-member discount from the future standard price. We don't promise a lifetime price — the exact policy is shown clearly before purchase.

16 · Can Sofrito guarantee savings?+

No. Sofrito identifies supported opportunities, calculates possible financial effects, recommends actions, and measures outcomes. Results depend on data quality, your decisions, implementation, and conditions outside anyone's control. Be suspicious of anyone who promises otherwise.

17 · Does Sofrito use AI?+

Software and AI help organize information, identify patterns, draft analysis, and improve efficiency. Material conclusions remain grounded in verified customer data, transparent calculations, confidence labels, and human review during the concierge stage. AI is never presented as proof.

18 · Who is Sofrito for?+

Growth-minded independent restaurants, food trucks, caterers, ghost kitchens, pop-ups, and small multi-location groups — especially businesses with real revenue, unclear profitability, heavy owner dependency, willingness to provide weekly data, and the ability to act on recommendations.

19 · Who is Sofrito not for?+

Businesses seeking only bookkeeping or tax filing, owners unwilling to share operating information, teams unable to act on recommendations, major franchises with corporate intelligence systems, anyone needing full daily management for $149 per month, or anyone expecting guaranteed profit improvement.

20 · What is not included?+

Bookkeeping, tax preparation, legal advice, payroll processing, daily financial management, unlimited consulting or calls, routine physical receipt pickup, full inventory counting, full recipe costing, vendor negotiation, POS or accounting replacement — and no guaranteed savings or profitability. Deeper services are separately priced.

Still deciding? That is a fair place to be.

Fifteen spots, ninety days, and an honest answer either way — we will tell you plainly if it is not the right fit for your stage.
